First time at Jacksonville First Methodist Church?

Looking for a church to call ‘home’ can be difficult, so we want to make it easy for you to discern whether Jacksonville FMC might be a good fit for you. We tried to anticipate some of the questions you might have, but if you’re still wondering about something, contact the church office at 903-586-2494.

What time is worship service?

Our worship service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Where is the church located?

The church is located on the corner of Corinth Road & Loop 456.

Here is the churches address:
1031 SE Loop 456
Jacksonville, TX 75766

Where do I park?

There are parking spots located on all sides of the church. If you want to know the easiest way to get where you need to be...
Enter the church from the driveway off of Loop 456. Find a parking spot in the parking area with the flag poles. Enter the church doors by the Historical Marker and the Church Plaque in the wall. Typically, there are greeters at the door to welcome you in.

Is there handicap accessibility?

Handicap parking is available on all sides of the church, with sidewalks leading directly from the reserved parking to the main entrances, which are accessible as well. Our facilities are all on one floor, so once you’re inside, everything is easily accessible.

What should I wear?

You’ll see shorts and flip flops, hats, jeans and button downs, slacks and dresses, and some suits. The point is for you to come comfortable to how you like to dress. We never want attire to be a barrier holding someone back from visiting.
We care about your heart, not your clothes.

What about my kids/ students?

We want you and your children to have a meaningful worship experience. That’s why we have a professionally staffed nursery for ages 0 to 2 years old. Our qualified staff and church volunteers work to build and safe and loving environment for our children.
Nursery is provided during the Sunday school and worship times as well as other times throughout the week for special program.

Sunday school is provided for children ages three years old through 12th grade. The Sunday School teachers for each class offers fun and interesting lessons that help children connect and learn about God’s word and how it applies to their life.

Will I be asked to stand and be recognized as a guest?

Definitely not! But we would love to get to know you better! You can fill out the Blue Card in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate.

Am I expected to give money during the offering?

In the service, one of the pastors will pray over the offering and an offering plate will be past around the congregation.
If you are a guest, you should not feel obligated to give, though of course you are welcome to. The offering time is for members and those who consider Jacksonville FUMC their church home.

Are your worship services traditional or contemporary?

We consider our worship service to be traditional. This means that our pastors wear robes and stoles, we sing hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal, The Faith We Sing, the Cokesbury, and songs you might have grown up with. We have a choir, a pianist, and organist for every Sunday. We also draw from traditional doctrines, creeds, and prayers.

How long are worship services?

Worship normally lasts an hour - sometimes less and occasionally a few minutes longer. If at any time during the service, you need to leave (for whatever reason), feel free to excuse yourself at anytime.
