The Way of Wisdom: Proverbs 20
Eleven chapters to go. Today we read Proverbs 20. (Click on the link to read the verses.)
The righteous lead blameless lives; Blessed are their children.–vs. 7
Blameless?
Not me. I mess up. Make wrong choices. Daily. So do I throw my hands up in the air and give up? No. I wake up each morning freshly clothed with God’s grace and try again.
Why?
Because I have people depending on me. Sometimes I forget that they are watching, listening, eager to adopt my behavior for their own. Good or bad, I am making an impression in their lives. It can be tempting to adopt the saying “Do as I say and not as I do”. But let’s be honest… It’s a cop-out. What I do AND what I say reflect my heart, and more than anything I want my children to see and know a heart that is in love with Jesus.
Blameless? No.
Trying? Yes.
Blessed? Without a doubt.
Father God, let me live a life that shows my children Who you are, and who they are to you. Let my words and my actions be a living testimony, each day, that shows them that you are the Way.
Amen.
