Advent 2020

O, come let us adore Him!

It’s time to turn our hearts to the wonders of the Babe in the manger. Grow Team’s offering to assist you in preparing your heart to adore Jesus is Joy to the World: Daily Readings for Advent by John Piper.

The readings begin on December 1 and focus on the reasons for adoring this great gift God sent into the world. The Savior of our souls: Jesus.

Pick up yours today! They are available on the welcome desk in the Commons area or if you’re not getting out call the church office and we’ll get you a copy. We can bring it to your car or mail it to your home.

Grow Team is also offering a way to go deeper into each reading with daily posts here on the church blog. Responses and questions to consider based on what you read in Joy to the World.

Looking forward to adoring Him with you!

December 1

[The offerings during Advent are meant to complement the readings in the devotional book The Dawning of Indestructible Joy. Please read the December 1 devotional first.]

The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Luke 19:10

Jesus came into the world at the first Advent, and every Advent since is a reminder of his continual advent into more and more lives. And that advent is, in fact, our advent – our coming, our moving into the lives of those around us and into the peoples of the world.

– John Piper, The Dawning of Indestructible Joy, page 16*

Jesus’s primary mission in entering the world as a baby was to seek and to save the lost. As His followers, this is our primary mission, too.

Consider how He sought and saved you.

Consider those you love, who are still lost. What about those you don’t love? or don’t know? He came for them, too.

Jesus said: “As the Father has sent Me, even so I am sending you” (John 20:21)

Lord, open my heart to the lost. Bless me with the faith to go where You send.
