The Way of Wisdom: Proverbs 15

Today’s Scripture is Proverbs 15. (Click on the link to read the verses.)

A church shooting Sunday morning. My heart aches. Families altered in an instant. Hearts left broken.

Why, God? Churches should be exempt.

But that is not promised nor has it ever been. When words are insufficient, and attempts to understand are exhausting, I put my hope in you.

You are close to the broken hearted (Psalm 34:18).
You hear the prayers of the righteous (Proverbs 15:29).

Lord, a community in the body of Christ, Your Body, is hurting. I beg You would allow them to feel your closeness. Give them peace and comfort as they grieve. Give them strength to rebuild in unity. Above all, let them know, and have full faith, that even though there is evil in this world, You are good.

Songs of Praise: Psalm 146-147

Read Psalm 146-147. (Click on the link to read the Scripture.)

His delight is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,
but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.

Psalm 147:10-11

Merriam-Webster defines delight as a high degree of satisfaction or pleasure, joy, extreme satisfaction.

God does not find delight, pleasure or satisfaction in the strength of man or beast.

His delight and joy is found in those who fear Him who hope in His steadfast love.

Have you given it any thought? Have you considered if God delights in you? The psalmist spells it out loud and clear. When we fear, revere, worship the One true God, He takes pleasure, extreme satisfaction in us.

When is the last time you dared to hope in nothing but His steadfast love? Now is the time to place your hope in Him and Him alone.

Almighty God: Father, Son, Spirit. I have no hope apart from You. No strength in and of myself with which to please You. Work in me a proper attitude toward You. Fill my heart with delight for You alone. Lord, I want You to delight in me.
