December 6

[Today’s add-on to John Piper’s Christmas devotional, The Dawning of Indestructible Joy. Read December 6 in his book before you read here.]

For this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.

John 12:27-28

The deepest reason why we live for the glory of God is that God acts for the glory of God. We are passionate about God’s glory because God is passionate about God’s glory.

– John Piper, The Dawning of Indestructible Joy, page 27*

God the Son came for the purpose of glorifying God the Father with His life.

Are you passionate about glorifying God? Do you see it as your purpose? Why or why not?

Consider the reasons to glorify God with your life.

Consider the ways you could begin living as Jesus, glorifying the Father in all you do and say.

Lord, forgive me for being distracted from my primary purpose and passion. Teach me to glorify You in all I do.
