December 3

[Read the December 3 devotional in The Dawning of Indestructible Joy before entering into this reading.]

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Hebrews 13:20-21

One of the things pleasing in God’s sight is that his people keep on drawing near to him forever and ever. And so he is working in us this very thing.

– John Piper, The Dawning of Indestructible Joy, page 19*

Consider God the Son, emptying Himself of all divinity to enter the world as a baby so we might be near Him.

Consider the great extremes, the great cost He endured to make the Way to restore relationship with you.

What feelings arise?

How determined are you to draw near to Him?

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

James 4:10 ESV

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, work in my heart to stir up a desire to be near You. Remove any barriers keeping me from coming closer.
