When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.–vs. 6-7

The inner room the high priest was allowed to enter once a year was separated from the sanctuary behind a curtain. It was the most holy of all places. The very presence of God resided there. This is the place Zechariah heard the angel’s message of John’s birth. Once a year the high priest entered to offer sacrifice for the sins of the people.

The curtain provided separation… a barrier between God and man. Now think of the crucifixion. The moment Jesus breathed His last breath.

At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Matthew 27:51
Jesus was the final sacrifice. His blood offered on the cross made a way for us to enter the most holy place at any time. Gone are the days of separation. We have the incredible opportunity to be in His presence every moment of every day. When is the last time you’ve entered into the holy place? felt His presence? encountered the Holy Spirit? Make time this day to experience His love, redemption, healing.

Sometimes we forget Lord. The very thing you’ve done so that we might have access to you. Thank you for your sacrifice… for ripping the separation right in two. You are holy and we praise you for your presence in our lives. Show us how to live fully in you. In your name… amen.
